# about
I'm Praveen — an engineering team lead at
Accelo,
the service operations platform used by thousands of consultancies and agencies worldwide
to quote, deliver, and bill work without the usual chaos.
I've worked my way up at Accelo over 8+ years — joining as a junior developer,
progressing through mid-level and senior roles, and now
leading the team that rebuilt our platform end-to-end as v4
(inception through to public beta). Day-to-day I work across a full-stack of GraphQL APIs
(Apollo + Nexus, code-first), a Next.js web app, and a Perl backend, and most recently led the
integration of a newly acquired AI-powered platform into our ecosystem.
Before Accelo, two years at Wipro in India taught me how to write production
code — the foundation everything since has built on. Earlier still, at G-TEC
in Pala, I built my first real piece of software almost by accident: I noticed the manual
staff-attendance register was painfully old-school, proposed automating it, and ended up
shipping a C#.NET / Microsoft Access system that ran for eight years untouched.
I migrated to Australia in 2016 for a Master of Computer Science at the University of
Wollongong, stayed, and became an Australian citizen along the way.
Off the clock: we recently built our own home in Calderwood, NSW (moved in December 2025), I travel
whenever I can, and I'm married to Elna since 2021. Originally from Ezhacherry, Kerala, India — a true
Malayali at heart.
Joined as a Junior Developer and progressed through
Mid-level, Senior Developer, and now
Engineering Team Lead — 8+ years in one place because the work
has kept getting more interesting. As lead I drove the engineering team that
rebuilt our service operations platform end-to-end as v4, from
inception through to public beta. Designed and shipped GraphQL API schemas
(Apollo + Nexus, code-first) serving internal products, mobile clients, and a
public API. Champion of test automation with Playwright and Jest, and most
recently led the integration of a newly acquired AI-powered platform into our
ecosystem.
Where I learned how to write production code — the foundation everything since
has built on. Early-career engineering at one of India's largest IT services
firms, working across enterprise-scale Java projects and picking up the
discipline of shipping software people actually depend on.

Software Developer
G-TEC · Pala, India
Designed and built a staff-attendance management system that replaced G-TEC's
manual paper register. Proposed it after seeing how clunky the hand-written
logging was; later iterations added advance payments, leave deduction, and
payslip generation. Built in C#.NET with a Microsoft
Access database. Ran in production for 8 years
without a single tweak or update — my first taste of shipping software that
actually got used.

The site you're looking at. A hand-rolled, no-build portfolio served as static
HTML, CSS, and a sprinkle of vanilla JavaScript from GitHub Pages — terminal-inspired
dark theme, typewriter intro, dynamic tenure counter, and active-section nav.
The same repo doubles as my GitHub profile README.
AI-powered professional services platform that brings project planning, resource
management, and financials into one place. Joined the Forecast codebase as part of
Accelo's acquisition, leading the integration of the platform into our wider
ecosystem.
Mostly travel and good food. Some books, some cricket, the occasional hike.

Travel
all 6 states + ACT
I've made it to every Australian state and territory and keep going back for more.
In Western Australia, Rottnest Island and its quokkas — and some of the
most beautiful beaches I've seen. In South Australia, the wineries
of the Barossa Valley and the Fleurieu Peninsula, plus the best sunset of my life
at Sellicks Beach. The tropical landscapes of Cairns and the Great
Barrier Reef in Queensland. The Opera House and a cruise across the Tasman Sea on
the NSW coast. Hobart's Mount Wellington and the old convict colony
at Port Arthur in Tasmania. The opal-mining town of Lightning Ridge in outback NSW.
Canberra at Floriade time — Parliament House, the Royal Australian
Mint, the lot.
I drive a lot. The Great Ocean Road to the Twelve Apostles in Victoria
and the Indian Ocean Drive in WA are two of my favourites. The longest day I've
ever done behind the wheel was 1,350 km from Wollongong to Adelaide
in a single sitting. And the most memorable was solo from Broken Hill to
Adelaide through a dust storm — a hell of an adventure I won't forget.

🥾
Hiking
Sublime Point in Austinmer is my favourite spot. I've also done
Mount Kosciuszko in the Snowy Mountains, the Pigeon House (Mount Didthul) hike,
and the Grand Canyon walk in the Blue Mountains — all picturesque.
🍛
Food
Not a great cook, but I love eating. Ambur biriyani is the
all-time favourite; Jigarthanda the drink of choice. Lamb brain
masala at Lahori Dhaba in Yagoona, pork sisig at Atin Ito in
Cringila, injera and dorowat at Jambo Jambo in Glebe. Ube cake and flan
for dessert — Filipino cuisine wins my heart even though I'm not Pinoy myself.
📚
Reading
Mostly novels — anything that sparks curiosity. Loved
Ram c/o Anandhi
and
Rathri 12-nu Shesham.
Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter were childhood staples; Nine Perfect
Strangers a more recent favourite.
📺
Watching
The Big Bang Theory, The Good Doctor, Sherlock, Young Sheldon, High Potential,
and Nine Perfect Strangers — give me a clever mystery or a sharp cast and I'm in.
🏏
Cricket
Lifelong supporter of the Indian cricket team. In the IPL,
Chennai Super Kings all the way — whistle podu! 🦁
⛪
Faith
A Syro-Malabar Catholic — one of the world's oldest Christian
communities, with roots traced back to St. Thomas the Apostle who baptised our
ancestors in Kerala. Every Sunday I attend Holy Qurbana in Malayalam at the
Syro-Malabar church in Berkeley, NSW.
